Watford’s Screwfix named as first Trade City tenant

Watford’s Trade City industrial park has revealed its first tenant as the project makes progress towards completion.

Trade City is just the opening phase of the Watford Riverwell development, a £350m scheme.

Watford Borough Council, along with developers Kier Property, lead what was once called the Health Campus project, which plans to breathe new life into almost 30 acres of land close to Watford General Hospital. The project is expected to be completed over a period of 15-20 years, providing 500 houses over two estates, in addition to new space should the hospital wish to expand, a primary school, and a care community with 250 beds.

Pip Prongué from Kier Property, said:

“The completion of Trade City Watford has been a great success for the joint venture and builds on the success of the Trade City brand. Securing Screwfix as the anchor tenant just one week after practical completion is a fantastic achievement.”

The unit, which covers some 6,448 square feet, is on course to open this September, with offers having been tendered for a number of the 11 units available.

New ventures such as Trade City seek to promote their presence to the local community and business they could potentially in the future. As a result they often turn to print shops that can provide essential tools such as customised stationery and business cards.
