Tunbridge Wells to welcome 200 postgrad students in September

A university will be welcoming new students to Tunbridge Wells city centre in September, with local businesses ready to benefit.

Canterbury Christ Church University is relocating postgraduate degrees from its Salomons Centre, located on Broomhill Road and close to Southborough, to Meadow Road’s Zurich House, by Royal Victoria Place.

The university opened its doors to 140 current postgraduate students on August 7th for its clinical psychology postgraduate degree, along with 50 more students for its cognitive behavioural therapy professional postgrad diploma. Each are three-year courses.

The university knew that it would be unable to apply for renewal of the lease that it had on Salomons Centre, which was set to expire in 2019. After much deliberation, it made the decision to seek central accommodation in Tunbridge Wells.

Senior management lead for Tunbridge Wells and Broadstairs, Professor Callum Firth, spoke to Kent Live. He commented:

“We have been at the Salomons Centre For Applied Psychology for a long time, but we have always been mindful that the site is not ideal in terms of staff and students being able to get to the site.

Businesses set to benefit from the change will include a print shop as the university is likely to update its literature relevant to these courses. Stationary printing, along with other printing services, will be needed to ensure that the new address is up to date.
