Plans for hotel in Stoke-on-Trent revealed

Plans for a new Stoke-on-Trent hotel with over 100 rooms are being discussed.

The hotel plan is being proposed by Visk Ventures. Brochure printing in Stoke-on-Trent can be used to promote tourism. The hotel will contain a restaurant, a bar and a gym if it gets the green light. Part of an existing car park would be retained for the convenience of guests. Visk Ventures has not declared how it would brand its accommodation. Jonathan Bellamy, chair of a city centre group, told the Stoke Sentinel:

“Despite our failure to win the City of Culture status and all the growth and increase of visitors that would have brought, we continue to aspire to see increased numbers of people wanting to stay in our city: to stay over on business, to experience all the attractions we have to offer, or locate here as an ideal base for the wider region.”

Visk Ventures might work with a range of hotel operators. It has cooperated with Travelodge in the past. If the vision of the developer is realised then it could lead to the creation of 20 full-time positions. 10 part-time posts might also flow from the scheme.

Regeneration would be assisted by the project. The planning application suggests that a new hotel would deliver a local economic boost. At present, a Premier Inn in the vicinity is adding extra rooms to keep up with demand.
