Southampton’s London Road Brew House (LRBH) began making its beer in January and has already received awards for some of its creations.

LRBH aims to cater for a wide range of tastes by providing quizzes, games and televised sport. Manager Jennifer Ford has been really pleased by the response of customers so far. Promotional drinkware from Southampton Hedge End can be used by a variety of local bars. Master brewer Lee Farling told the Daily Echo:

“We brew a variety of beers to suit all tastes that include simple, easy-drinking IPA to some more weird and wonderful concoctions that are a more acquired taste.”

Farling recently picked up a prestigious award at a local real ale festival. The overall prize went to his Black Panther Imperial Stout and there are plans to bottle some of his creations.

LRBH is owned by The City Pub Company, and is not just about the fascinating beer. Great pizza is also part of the offer. Many students visit the pub and they may be tempted by freshly baked treats. The distinctive pizzas are called Cool Runnings, Original Gangster and Chuck Norris and each pizza has a special topping.

Student Tom Brenton is familiar with the pub and has said that it has a positive atmosphere and is somewhere in which he can relax. Brenton and his friends frequently visit the pub to watch football.
