New public relations agency sought by Marketing Birmingham

February 21, 2012 by

The organisation responsible for promoting Birmingham, Marketing Birmingham, is on the look-out for a new public relations agency.

Marketing Birmingham currently works to promote the attractions and quality of life of Birmingham to tourists, businesses and people who may be looking to move to the area. The organisation encompasses Meet Birmingham, an event planning and conference facility in the city; and Visit Birmingham, which focuses more on the tourism side of things. The organisations works to provide marketing literature, information, guides and maps to people visiting the area, making their visit to Birmingham run as smoothly and as enjoyably as possible.

Marketing Birmingham is currently reviewing its public relations account. It recently asked firms who felt they were up to the task to submit their applications by 16th February. The organisation will decide who to appoint for the year-long contract, which is worth around £50,000. The public relations agency will work closely with the wider marketing team, preparing and producing everything from press releases to website content to promotional marketing material, working with internal and third-party contacts such as brochure printers.

South Birmingham is making a name for itself as something of a creative hub and many marketing, advertising and public relations agencies are headquartered there; so it is a real possibility that Marketing Birmingham will appoint a local agency. The support of local business is something that the organisation champions, so it would make sense that the new agency would come from within the city.

The appointment of the successful public relations agency is expected to be announced shortly.
