New magazine set for first print run in September

A new luxury magazine aimed at over 40s is set to launch in Birmingham in September.

Dluxe Birmingham is being launched due to the success of its sister magazine, Dluxe Leicestershire. The magazine will target educated, financially comfortable people over the age of 40 and is being produced by 69 Magazine Ltd. 69 Magazine Ltd. are the publishers of 69 Degrees, a youth fashion magazine that has been running since 1999.

The new venture is supported by online activity but will be a primarily print publication, with a focus on being “unashamedly glossy”, in the magazine’s own words. Dluxe Birmingham will be produced using full colour printing. South Birmingham, the city centre and Solihull will all be targeted by the magazine.

Content in Dluxe Birmingham will range from engaging editorial, celebrity interviews, features on luxury travel and information about inspirational interior design. Arts and culture also feature heavily in the content plans for Dluxe Birmingham and each feature will be written to appeal to people who appreciate the finer, more premium things in life. Recent features in Dluxe Leicestershire have included interviews with comedian Alan Carr and articles about Range Rover’s latest vehicle in its motoring section. The content of Dluxe Birmingham is expected to follow a similar pattern.

In a time of austerity, it is interesting to see that Dluxe Birmingham will focus on luxury. However, if the success of Dluxe Leicestershire is anything to go by, it should fare well. This investment in printing for South Birmingham, the city and Solihull is a vote of confidence for the print industry in general.
