Walking festival arrives in Harrow

Residents in the Harrow area have been encouraged to participate in a festival called Walk About.

People who live in Harrow have been prompted to get involved in Walk About, a walking festival backed by the local authority. It has also been supported by funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery. A variety of events have taken place in local parks, with the initiative being organised by Harrow Health Walks (HHW).

If the walking festival is judged to be a success, it could be repeated next year and promotional products from Ruislip Manor might be used for endorsement purposes. This year, walkers of various ages and abilities were encouraged to take part. Attendees were instructed to wear appropriate clothing and were reminded that carrying water was sensible.

Ferhat Cinar, who has coordinated the activities for HHW, told the Harrow Times:

“Our walks through Harrow Recreation Ground, West Harrow Park, and Pinner Memorial Park are perfect for anyone wanting to take their first steps into walking.”

Cinar has pointed out that the terrain is flat, which is ideal for novice walkers. However, Cinar highlighted that the festival included a variety of rambles, some of which were suitable for individuals who wanted to be challenged.

HHW have become regular occurrences, with about 300 people giving it a go on a weekly basis. West Harrow Park is the location for a new walk on Sundays.
