T Snape & Co Preston upgrades kit

A long established printing company in Preston has invested in new kit for 2010. T Snape & Co has been established for over 120 years. The company has been in business since 1858 and they are still located at their original site in Bolton’s Court.

The company had put a halt to any capital expenditure until the economic climate showed signs of improvement. T Snape & Co’s managing director, Mr. Dominic Swarbrick, said:

“I put all capital expenditure on hold when the recession hit until we could see a bit of daylight, but I think we’re through the worst of it now, although I wouldn’t say it’s over yet.”

The established print company in Preston operates a battery of Heidelberg presses and uses approximately 800 plates a month to feed its workload. The battery includes a Speedmaster SM74-2, a Printmaster PM74-2, a GTO-2 and a QM 46-2.orkload.

T Snape & Co decided the time was right to invest in new equipment. They have upgraded their Prosetter visible light platesetter to a Heidelberg Suprasetter A75. They have signed a three-year deal with the German manufacturer worth £70,000 for its Sapphire chemistry-free plates.

This printers in Preston has been around for a long time and during their time in business have experienced good times and bad times. Timing is crucial when it comes to large capital investments and this experienced firm of Preston printers has clearly got it right in the past. Perhaps this is an encouraging sign that the ‘green shoots’ of recovery are at last being watered.
