A student from Hertfordshire Regional College has been chosen as the winner of a graphic design competition run by a local amateur dramatics group.

Second year graphic design student Shelley Cordell has been chosen as the winner of a competition run by Hertford Dramatic and Operatic Society. The society asked all 33 students on the graphic design course at the Ware campus of Hertfordshire Regional College to design a poster promoting their pantomime production of Robin Hood. Shelley, a student on the course for the BTEC in National Diploma Graphic Design, was chosen as the winner for her design and has been awarded with free tickets to the production, which takes place in January 2012. The society will now use the winning design to create promotional material to drum up interest in the production.

Due to its eye-catching nature, poster printing in Ware and the wider Hertfordshire region has always been a popular method of promoting shows and events and this is the second time that the Hertford Dramatic and Operatic Society has worked with the local college to run their design competition. Gina Ormerod, a representative from the society said:

“It has been a real pleasure working with the college and the students. It was very hard to choose as the standard was so high.”

Robin Hood runs from 11th to 15th January 2012 at Hertford Theatre. Tickets for the pantomime are now on sale and can be bought from the theatre’s box office from now until January.
