Gala hosted at Potters Bar Bowls Club

The Potters Bar Bowls Club has staged the President’s Gala Day recently.

The gala was a colourful occasion this year. Sue Thurlow, the current president of the club, ensured that a bright dress code was the order of the day. Members of the club responded positively to the lead taken by the President. Poster printing from Potters Bar can be used to promote a wide range of events.

Headway Hertfordshire has benefited from the gala. The charity is engaged in supporting individuals with brain injuries. Thurlow has a special affection for the organisation.

Pam Barker and Barbara Mouland made a big effort with sales of raffle tickets. The raffle was responsible for securing about £250 for the worthy cause. More than £500 was collected on the day to add to this sum. By the end of the year, it is possible that almost £2,000 will be obtained for Headway Hertfordshire via the club.

Quite outrageous coloured hats were worn by the members of the club during the course of the gala. However, ordinary competitions have continued in recent times. A team representing Potters Bar has defeated a team from Hemel Hempstead. The winning players were Brian Vince, Barry Woodman and Chris Budden.

In addition, the Potters Bar Bowls Club has also recorded a victory against a team from Harpenden. Meanwhile, the women’s team outperformed rivals from Welwyn & District.
