Expansion plans for plus-size fashion magazine

A locally-based fashion magazine that covers all things plus-size is celebrating a successful year online and has recently announced plans to expand into print.

SLiNK, the fashion and lifestyle online magazine created by Rivkie Baum from Golders Green, was born out of frustration that many traditional fashion magazines for women had little or no regard for plus size clothing. With many fashion labels stopping their range at size 12, Rivkie felt it was time to take matters into her own hands and produce a magazine that focused on clothing that was available in size 14 and beyond.

Rivkie Baum spoke about her decision to start SLiNK magazine, saying:

“There was a real gap in the market for a magazine that did what others did but for plus sizes. Recently there’s been a 47 per cent growth in plus-size readers.”

The online version of the magazine is staffed by freelance journalists and after a successful year online, the decision has been taken to bring the magazine to life in a new format, using full colour printing.

Potters Bar, just south of Golders Green, is home to print shops that provide full colour printing and offer bespoke finishing. This kind of print offering could give the production of new magazines, brochures or catalogues the professional finish they need to succeed.

The printed copy of SLiNK magazine can be ordered from the magazine’s website. Digital versions are also available for iPad and iPhone, or as a downloadable pdf version. Annual subscriptions are also available from the website.
