Century from Manuwelge secures Potters Bar win

An undefeated century from Don Manuwelge played a huge role in ensuring that Potters Bar secured a Saracens Hertfordshire County Cricket League Premier Division victory over Sawbridgeworth recently.

Potters Bar claimed the win by six wickets in the home clash, although their chances looked doubtful when they lost three wickets for 16 runs while attempting to respond to the 198 total amassed by Sawbridgeworth.

At this point, Manuwelge stepped into the fray, with sterling support from team mate Liam Gough, to turn things around with an impressive century that led his side to success.

Potters Bar opted to open the bowling, having won the toss, and got off to a fine start with Usman Sahar and Nick McLachlan making short work of their opponents’ top order. This left Sawbridgeworth in real trouble at just 43 for 6.

However, any thoughts that Potters Bar might have had that the match was in the bag were swiftly dashed, as Joe Regan dragged Sawbridgeworth back into things with a strong innings of 82. George Kenny made 48 during a nine-wicket stand alongside him, ensuring the visitors reached a viable total.

Local sports matches like this frequently employ poster printing in Potters Bar and similar areas to make sure that people know about them.

The home side’s batting started poorly, as George Scott, Harrison Palmer and James Scott were all bowled out early, before Manuwelge turned things around for the win.
