Details announced for 2018 OX5 run

The organisers of a five-mile charity run for Oxford Children’s Hospital have revealed that the next event will take place at Blenheim Palace on Sunday 25th March 2018.

The event was initially established to finance the hospital building, which sees around 60,000 patients each year. However, the funds now help to fund the higher-priority facilities and equipment.

Earlier in 2017, the run raised over £100,000, when approximately 1,000 participants helped to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the event. The run was more successful than any of its previous years, raising £126,000 in total. The event is now just £24,000 shy of reaching the £1m mark.

A team representing the newsroom from the Oxford Mail joined police officers, local businesses, and hospital workers on the day. Kate Allen, managing director, said:

“It is such a special local cause and we have seen first hand the result of the money raised for local children being looked after at the hospital, so we couldn’t be prouder to be supporting the event again and hope the wider Oxford business community will get involved and take part.”

The event is clearly having its desired effect, but the hospital would welcome additional funds.

Fundraising events such as this often seek the help of local printers to provide them with promotional materials to raise awareness of the events amongst the local community,. This often involves the printing of leaflets, postcards, and banners.
