Make It Macclesfield hosts meeting

Make It Macclesfield (MIM) is engaging with the public over the future of the town centre.

MIM is a community-based company that aims to drive Macclesfield forward through upgrading its profile. Cheshire East Council (CEC) has a vision which claims ‘There’s no place like Macclesfield’ and putting the flesh on the bones of the strategy is important. Full colour printing from Macclesfield can be used to promote the plans of local organisations.

Multiple meetings will be held as part of the process. About 80 people attended a recent event at the town hall, with CEC playing a leading role in managing that session. The purpose of the MIM meeting was outlined by its acting chair, Mike Rance. He told the Macclesfield Express:

“The primary purpose will be to encourage everyone to make their own responses to the consultation based on the broader perspective of the opportunities and the challenges that should be generated by the evening’s open discussion.”

A variety of individuals are interested in the plans for the Grosvenor Centre. A leisure initiative is also attracting attention. Macclesfield Heritage, Macclesfield Civic Society and Macclesfield College are all engaging with the process.

The MIM event generated contributions from the Peaks and Plains Housing Trust, the Culture and Arts Forum and the Digital and Creative Community. David Rutley MP will also become better informed by the continuing debates.
