Ink supplier sponsors printing course

An ink supply company has pledged funding to sponsor a printing course at Leicester College.

Stehlin Hostag Ink UK is a company who provide ink and other consumables to the print industry throughout the UK. The company has decided to sponsor the range of print-based courses at Leicester College. These include courses in lithographic print and in digital printing. Loughborough, Leicester and Nottinghamshire are all regions from which students come to study printing at Leicester College and the boost given by Stehlin Hostag will make the student experience much richer.

Stehlin Hostag is prepared to allow students to use their inks for the duration of the course, as well as offering classes in ink mixing at the company’s Nottingham-based mixing plant. A technical account manager from the company will also be on hand to give advice on colour management. These hands-on experiences are the kinds of thing that will stand students in good stead when their course finishes and they are looking for jobs at printing companies or print shops in the Loughborough, Leicester or Nottinghamshire area.

Glyn McPheator, a lecturer in print production at Leicester College, spoke to Print Week about the college’s partnership with Stehlin Hostag and he said:

“Their kind donations enable the industry’s ‘Printers of Tomorrow’ to familiarise themselves with the Stehlin brand while also learning the fundamental principles of ink.”

Leicester College has a number of courses and apprenticeships due to start in September 2011. More information can be found by contacting the college directly.
