Campus in Kirkintilloch receives equipment

The Kirkintilloch campus of New College Lanarkshire has received a significant boost from a retail firm based in the town, which will enable its programme for Electronic Fire and Security Apprentices to continue.

Equipment worth around £5,000 was donated to the college by the local branch of supermarket chain Scotmid Co-operative. It includes a number of digital video recorders, which can be used during apprentice training procedures, as well as to assist qualified engineers to upgrade their skills.

New College Lanarkshire’s Built Environment and Securities Curriculum and Quality Leader, David Scott, told the Kirkintilloch Herald that everyone at the campus wanted to express their thanks to the retail firm for providing them with this equipment, which was previously used for security purposes.

He went on to state that the course offered by the college needed to maintain pace with developments within the industry, so that those taking it were properly prepared to get jobs once they completed their training, adding that:

“The support of local businesses has been a major factor in the success of these programmes at New College Lanarkshire and has resulted in us being the top provider in Scotland for Electronic Fire and Securities provision.”

College campuses based within the town and the surrounding areas, such as this one, often choose to make use of places that provide stationery printing.
