Exeter to welcome toy shop

Smyths Toys is poised to open a brand new outlet in Exeter.

The largest toy chain in Europe, Smyths has more than 100 stores within the UK. The organisation intends to replace a former Toys R Us premises located in Exeter’s Bishops Court Retail Park (BCRP). This park, which is situated in proximity to Sidmouth Road, belongs to Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI). A spokesperson who works for BCRP said to Devon Live:

“Smyths Toys is a great addition to the park and will provide Exeter with an excellent replacement toy retailer.”

If planning permission is granted in relation to a vacant unit, an appropriate tenant could be added to the out-of-town offer. BCRP is not entirely happy with the present arrangement because the empty unit can only be used for specific purposes at the moment. The idea is that the restriction on the space, which is linked to the size of goods, should be scrapped.

Stationery printers are convenient when firms are expanding their operations, and the hope is that Smyths Toys should be up and running during the early part of 2019. Toys R Us stopped occupying the space concerned last March .

It might prove to be the case that the Symths Stores in Exeter is managed like its counterpart in Plymouth, which is open on a daily basis.
