Footballers visit hospital near Edgware

Children at a hospital near Edgware were given a festive surprise recently, when players from Tottenham Hotspur paid a visit to hand out gifts.

One of the club’s most celebrated names, Ledley King, was joined by several stars of the Tottenham men’s and women’s teams for the visit to Barnet Hospital, which is located not far from Edgware. Among the players to attend were Fernando Llorente and Moussa Sissoko, and they gave kids at the hospital a lift for the festive season by presenting them with Christmas gifts.

Sissoko has enjoyed a turnaround in his fortunes at Tottenham, following a difficult first season at the club. According to a reporter from the Daily Mail, he went on to social media site Twitter to say how happy he had been to have the chance to visit the hospital:

“I am lucky to be able to make the children smile with my job. Thanks for your wonderful smiles and I wish you a merry Christmas in advance.”

Hospitals often rely on local stationery printers to make sure that they have all of the various forms they need.

This special visit came in the wake of a good week on the pitch for the club, which made it into the Champions League final 16 a few days earlier after securing a draw against Barcelona in Spain.
