Local Football club Dumbarton FC may be moving again!

October 31, 2016 by

Having spent 121 years at their original ground of Boghead, they moved just after the millennium to a brand new stadium known as the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium (a client of Minuteman Press Helensburgh) which is under the shadow of Dumbarton Rock and Castle in 2001 but now they are looking to move again.  The new location is known as Young’s Farm and is to the west of Dumbarton.

Currently the club can have around 2000 supporters in, but the new stadium will see the capacity rise to double the current total.

The Club see the project being funded by selling the current stadium for housing as well as the building of up to some 200 new homes alongside the new stadium.  The housing is seen as vital because the usual ideas of community sports use associated with new stadia is not enough to provide the funds required.  With gyms, healthcare facilities as well as hospitality suites, alongside the 5 a side pitches etc, the development could be an enormous boost to the local area too, alongside the work that can be done where the existing stadium is located.

Dumbarton FC are currently the only part time club in their league and as such will struggle to reach the higher echelons that they once graced without investment in the facilities and team.  Dumbarton FC won the initial two league trophies and until recently were the only team to have won every league level in Scotland!

The last move saw Dumbarton ground sharing for a period, a situation that fans will not want to see happen again.  The plans can be viewed at an exhibition at the ground on the 11th November.

Clubs and groups like Dumbarton FC can use local printers to let fans and other locals know their plans via leaflets and brochures.

Clydebank play areas and facilities

October 28, 2016 by

Children and younger at heart adults in Clydebank will be delighted with the news that the Council will be spending more than £3 million on play areas and facilities around the town.

The eagle-eyed will have noticed that many improvements have already occurred  with a third of the money having already been spent in the area.  The new funding from the council will see already exisiting areas improved as well as new ones being created, with 23 different sites still to be enhanced throughout both Clydebank and the surrounding area.

Whilst swings and roundabouts will be improved, there will also be general play areas, skate parks and all weather areas too, scattered amongst the various sites.

It is hoped that these new areas and improved existing ones, will help generate community pride and lead to other developments too.   The provision of safe, stimulating and challenging play areas for kids will have health and lifestyle improvements that will benefit the communities for years to come.

Organisations such as councils can let locals know what is happening for the kids by using local printers to produce helpful flyers and informative booklets.
