Food hygiene ratings posters to be displayed in Crewe

Catering establishments in Crewe are getting ready to be part of a new scheme that will see their premises rated a score out of five when it comes to food hygiene.

Cheshire East Council has signed up to a national scheme being run by the Food Standards Agency, the organisation responsible for ensuring that companies who deal with food preparation comply to food safety laws. Under the scheme, any business or organisation that deals with food preparation or catering will be inspected and their premises will be given a hygiene rating.

The firms and organisations who have been rated by the Food Standards Agency have the option to display printed material in their premises, displaying how their business performed in the inspection. This is an opportunity for businesses that score highly to attract customers to their establishments, safe in the knowledge that their food is being prepared in a hygienic environment. Businesses may also choose to include their hygiene rating when producing menus or promotional material using services provided by local print shops in Crewe.

Local printing companies in Crewe often work with local restaurants, takeaways and catering establishments to produce menus or promotional leaflets produced using flyer printing. Crewe residents have so far responded positively to the idea that they will be able to see the hygiene credentials of their chosen eateries, so it many companies could benefit from openly communicating this with potential customers.

The scheme is also due to publish results on the government’s food ratings website from the 30th April.
