Chesterfield market competition winners indicate that support for shopping locally is growing

Market traders in Chesterfield recently received a boost by a recent competition which was run by Chesterfield Borough Council. The Council’s Market Retailer Guide encouraged local shoppers to vote for their favourite market traders to be featured in the guide, which is published by the Council.

This year’s winners were revealed as being Ibbotson’s outdoor market stall which won the Favourite Market Stall award for the second year running; and the award for Favourite Market Hall Retailer went to Fred’s Haberdashery, which is under new ownership. The results of the competition were borne of a high number of votes from local shoppers in Chesterfield and Councillor Keith Morgan, the Mayor of Chesterfield said:

“The number of entries received for the competition was fantastic and shows that there is still an awful lot of support for Chesterfield’s markets.”

The Market Retailer Guide is an effective way of promoting local businesses and retailers and local brochure printers in Chesterfield can help to produce guides like this.

Publications and schemes like the Market Retailer Guide could become increasingly popular throughout the UK as more people choose to shop locally to both save money and to lower their carbon footprint or to support the local economy. By producing more booklets or brochures to promote local initiatives using local brochure printers in Chesterfield, the Council could see this growing trend for supporting local shops and markets grow. This trend could spill over into the rest of the UK and could be a boost for the economy of the country as a whole.
