Chesterfield development gets the go ahead

A planned development in Chesterfield that will be mixed-use and is set to provide the town with a major employment boost has been given the go ahead.

The developer behind these plans is St Modwen and the site that it has chosen for the project is Egstow Park. The plans will see the construction of 825 houses, as well as space for commercial use covering eight hectares. With planning permission now having been granted, it is also expected to create around 680 jobs.

There has already been some building work on the site, with the initial phase of work on the housing having begun and a pub having been completed. However, with planning consent in the bag, more serious work will be able to get underway on it.

Speaking to the Business Desk, St Modwen’s development director, Gregg Titley, stated that the company was delighted by the news, as it would provide the town with essential new homes and the chance for inward investment, adding:

“We’re excited to play a part in attracting new businesses to the area, which will create a significant number of jobs for local people and help build a community in which people can live, work and enjoy their surroundings.”

Once the project has been completed, companies based within it will be able to rely on printers that supply business cards.
