Christmas pop-up shop opens in Cardiff

A pop-up food and drink outlet has opened in Cardiff city centre, giving residents and visitors to eat, drink and be merry in the build up to Christmas.

Wright’s Food Emporium offers a choice of the very best wines, all of which it imports from top French vineyards. The company is run by the Wright family and is primarily based within Llanarthney, but the family has launched this temporary outlet in Cardiff ahead of a more permanent store opening there next year.

It is located at Castle Arcade and, alongside natural wines, is offering customers a range of craft beers and foods such as granola, chutney and Catsup. The firm has built its reputation on recipes that mix French and Welsh ingredients.

Joel Wright, the son of founder Simon Wright, told Wales Online that it will use produce from Wales, both for the pop-up branch, which is open until 23rd December, and the permanent store which is set to open in February, adding:

“We chose to come to Cardiff because the spot came up and we like the arcade. It’s nice and old and the space is small, simple and fun – and gives us a presence in Cardiff.”

Shops that are based within the city often choose to make use of places that offer promotional items to help them advertise themselves to the local community.
