Cardiff motorists targeted by leaflet campaign

A local cyclist in Canton in Cardiff is taking matters into his own hands to make the area a safer place for other cyclists. Having made complaints to the council that fell on deaf ears about motorists parking on cycle paths in Canton, local cyclist, Elgan John, has decided to produce leaflets to try to improve the safety of cyclists in the area.

His leafleting campaign carries a message to try to deter motorists from parking on designated cycle paths in the area. The leaflets will be placed on illegally parked cars, underneath their windscreen wipers ensuring a highly targeted message to the offenders.

Elgan claims that the cycle paths’ misuse has become a persistent problem, despite the number of car parking spaces available to motorists in the area. His flyer will contain statistics regarding accidents caused by cyclists having to overtake parked cars rather than cycling in their designated lanes

Cardiff Council has made a response to the complaint, claiming that they take this very seriously and will be able to tackle the problem head on when civil parking enforcement commences in the city in July.

Leaflets and flyers make excellent highly targeted communication mechanisms, particularly for small businesses or individuals who do not have the budgets of bigger organisations. There will be local print companies in Cardiff or in your local area who will be able to provide quotations for cost effective leaflet and flyer campaigns, whatever message you need to get out there.
