Driving app created by local entrepreneur

An innovative young entrepreneur from Birmingham has hopes of steering himself to success in the tech sector, with a brand new app for people learning to drive.

Banwo Idowu lives in the Edgbaston area of Birmingham, and the app he has built is called Youmi. It works by helping those who want to take driving lessons to find an instructor they feel happy with, and he had the idea after finding out that two out of five learners try more than one instructor before finding the right one.

Now, Idowu is confident that his app will make this simpler for them, by providing a list of available driving instructors in their local area, complete with reviews and ratings by previous learners, which he says is a unique feature.

New online startups often use places that provide graphic design to help them make a splash. Idowu told the Birmingham Mail that the app had been inspired by the struggle to find the right instructor himself, adding:

β€œIt was during this time that I came up with the idea of Youmi – somewhere learner drivers can read reviews and easily compare local instructors in one place – but mainly a place where they have the ability to decide who teaches them to drive.”

The app is being rolled out across the West Midlands first, with a national launch to follow.
