New golf academy could be built in Ayr

A brand new academy dedicated to the teaching of golf and the hosting of tournaments could be constructed at Belleisle, in Ayr, providing the town’s economy with a major boost.

Preliminary plans for this project suggest that it would feature development holes within the Seafield golf course, as well as a driving range boasting floodlighting. The project is being designed by Martin Ebert, one of Scotland’s most notable architects, whose previous work includes the two golf courses at the Trump Turnberry resort.

Figures from the local council have indicated that it feels the building of this academy has the potential to make Ayr a real leading force in Scottish golf. Among the other facilities it would offer are a putting green and short game zone.

Ayrshire Golf Trust, Scottish Golf, and the local council have joined forces to drive the project forward, with the next stage being to secure planning permission, followed by financing from outside parties.

Brian Connolly, from the council and the trust, told the Daily Record:

“This has the potential to change golf in Ayrshire forever. The idea has been in the works for many years and we’re delighted we’ve now reached this stage.”

Should this academy end up being constructed, there are places that offer graphic design services that could prove useful when it comes to designing a logo.
