Hollywood stars visit Ayrshire restaurant

A-list Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie recently paid a surprise visit to an Ayrshire restaurant whilst staying in Scotland.

Diners and staff at The Balgarth Bar and Restaurant in Ayr witnessed the scene as Brad, Angelina and their six children visited the restaurant to enjoy a family meal, with Brad ordering a bacon cheeseburger as the Pitt clan dined in private in the restaurant.

One of the members of staff from The Balgarth Bar and Restaurant spoke to OK Magazine. He said:

“They [Brad and Angelina] arrived and one assistant came in and asked if there was a private room for them to eat in. We shut the doors and let them have their privacy. They left a very big tip! They were very polite and seemed to enjoy themselves.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie also took a tour of a National Trust for Scotland property recently, visiting Hill House, famed for its links with Charles Rennie Mackintosh. These celebrity visits have certainly caused the world to turn its eye upon Ayrshire.

Could Brad and Angelina’s haunts become the next tourist attractions for the area, causing locals to embark upon a souvenir making or postcard printing mission, featuring Ayr locations that the A-list couple have visited? Perhaps not, but their presence has certainly generated interest in areas of Scotland that, until now, had remained unknown to much of the world.

Brad Pitt is currently staying in Scotland to film his new film, zombie-themed blockbuster Z-Day.
