Town centres around Manchester set for revamp

Eight of the main town centres in Manchester are set to receive a boost thanks to a new initiative that will see investment and focus from all ten councils in the greater area.

Altrincham is amongst the chosen eight town centres which will be focused on as part of this initiative. A plan has been drawn up, advising that the council and local private sector partnership Altrincham Forward should look into improving access to the town centre, refurbishing the area around the marketplace and working with existing traders, retailers and businesses to strengthen their positions.

The chairman of Altrincham Forward spoke about the new initiative, saying:

“Altrincham Forward’s vision is to restore Altrincham to an attractive, bustling modern market town with a distinct and bold identity; and there is really positive work going on to achieve this.

“These are exciting times for Altrincham, with major developments under way to provide a new hospital, a new interchange and a transformed market.”

A number of companies in the are could benefit from working with local authorities and business improvement organisations by attending business networking events. Companies providing business card printing in Altrincham could help this networking by supplying business cards to local entrepreneurs that can be exchanged at these types of events.

Planning work is now underway and further announcements on the initiative to improve Altrincham and other town centres in Greater Manchester is expected to be announced in the local press over the coming months.
