Chesterfield to get new housing development

A number of new social housing options are set to be built in Chesterfield, after the decision was made to give plans the green light at a recent meeting.

The project will see Chesterfield Borough Council build 10 new homes on the chosen site, which is situated in Brampton, near to Heaton Street. The site was formerly home to Heaton Court and the council has indicated that these homes will be included in the rented social housing section of its housing stock once completed.

The planning committee, which has been set up by the council, gave the nod to the plans at a meeting held at the end of last month, with the council able to assure people living near to the planned development that it would comply with highways safety policies.

In its statement, the authority said that those moving into the homes would boost the town’s economy, as well as strengthening the community by using clubs and schools. An example of potential economic benefits is the way that local printers often provide brochure printing showing off new houses.

According to the Derbyshire Times, the statement added:

“The development of housing would create employment at the construction phase and development would enhance land values.”

No date has yet been set for the building to get underway.
