Art gallery celebrates in Southampton

Solent Showcase Gallery in Southampton is celebrating this winter after receiving nominations for several awards at two different ceremonies.

The Southampton-based art specialist is proud of its achievements, but it maintains that it has been boosted by assistance from the local community. Brochure printing can be useful for organisations that work in the creative industries.

Universities UK lent its approval to an exhibition called Small Faces, naming it amongst the UK’s best. This initiative involved significant public participation. Over 7,000 portraits are included in the show. The President of Universities UK, Dame Professor Janet Beer told the Daily Echo:

“The UK’s Best Breakthroughs list is a testament to the difference that universities make to people’s lives and we want everyone to join us in celebrating the work they do.”

The UK’s Best Breakthrough list recognises the efforts of students, alumni and staff. Solent University has tried to make a positive difference to community life via the art gallery.

Professor Graham Baldwin, the University Vice-Chancellor, is eager to promote the impact of his institution. He is keen to help enhance public understanding of the activities that take place under his leadership.

Last year, Small Faces secured a regional prize from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. Recognition of collaborative efforts can be welcome encouragement for curators such as Kate Maple.
