Swindon to stage Mindful Employer event

This October, the Mindful Employer conference will be held in Swindon.

The Swindon Marriott will be the venue for the occasion and is being put on by the Swindon Mindful Employer Network (SMEN). This business network is headed by David Latham. Business cards from Swindon can be useful for networking purposes. Latham pointed out that SMEN has been running since 2008. He told the Swindon Advertiser:

“Mental health is now on the agenda for boardrooms and workplaces and I believe we have played a part in highlighting these important matters locally.”

Latham thinks that the reputation of SMEN has grown since its establishment. The network has been funded by Swindon Borough Council. Public health professional Frances Mayes works at the council and believes that the conference will enhance understandings of wellbeing. The hope is that employers can view their staff as an asset worthy of care.

A wide range of speakers will do their bit to make the event into a positive affair. Dr Stuart Farrimond is a media personality who has endured poor mental and physical health. He will discuss the challenges which he has encountered.

Health campaigner Geoff McDonald will feature in the schedule. He was once an important executive at Unilever. Top psychologist and counsellor Mandy Rutter will provide insight into the concept of resilience. Swindon’s mayor will be an honoured guest on the big day.
