An indie rock band from the United States are set to play a show in Kilmarnock this summer.

We Are Scientists were formed 18 years ago and have gained a big audience among indie fans in this country, thanks to regular live shows here. The band will be heading to Kilmarnock as part of its tour of the UK that will see it play a total of 19 shows, with Bakers set to serve as the venue for the gig.

The group enjoyed success in the UK from the very start, with both of its first two albums hitting the higher reaches of the charts. Since then, it has gone on to headline Scottish music festivals Bute Fest, the Wickerman and T in the Park.

We Are Scientists has also featured regularly at the Leeds and Reading Festivals, as well as at Glastonbury. It is touring in support of its latest album, which is titled Megaplex, and will perform a mixture of new songs and old favourites.

The show at Bakers will be one of the first since this venue moved from its former home on John Finnie Street to a new base at Fowlds Street. The event will be taking place on 24th August.
