Thousands raised by Ayr charity event

A charity event that took place in Ayr recently proved to be a resounding success, raising thousands of pounds for a hospice based in the local area.

Twilight is a charity walk held every year in the town and this year’s event was bigger than ever – with hundreds of people taking to the streets and over £50,000 raised for the Ayrshire Hospice. As with previous years, Ayr Racecourse was the starting point for what was the tenth Twilight walk since its original launch.

The fundraising officer for the hospice, Graham Strawhorn, told the Daily Record that the event had benefited from the good weather and that those who had chosen to take part had stated how much they had enjoyed the experience.

A number of organisations backed the event, with Ayr Audi acting as sponsors and the likes of South Ayrshire Council, Air Image Photography, McKissock Electrical, Healthy Working Lives and the Ayrshire Post also involved. Strawhorn went on to say:

“It’s always a fantastic moment when all our walkers, supporters and sponsors finally congregate pre-walk in the Ayrshire Suite at the racecourse for this unique event, supporting the hospice in their own special way.”

Items such as promotional pens supplied by local printers can be a good way to get the word out to people about charity fundraisers.
