Ayr club to host snooker tournament

An Ayr-based snooker club has been selected to host one of the biggest tournaments on the Scottish junior snooker circuit.

Scottish Snooker, which is the official national body for the sport, has selected Ayr’s Davis Snooker Club to play host to a competition during the spring. The club, located on New Road, has been working hard at coaching youngsters in the hope that this will boost interest in junior snooker throughout the area.

The tournament will be open to players om the under 16 age category and will see young talent from around Scotland travel to Ayr to participate. Davis Snooker Club has 16 snooker tables for use, as well as several pool tables.

It represents further good news for the club, which recently announced that the youngsters who use it are now able to play league snooker, thanks to the coaching they have received there. Jatinder Singh, its manager, told the Daily Record:

“We are delighted to be playing host to the stars of the future. The game of snooker is finally making a comeback among juniors and we are one of the country’s accredited academies.”

The tournament will be held on 3rd March. Venues of events such as this may turn to places that provide graphic design to help with posters advertising the event to potential competitors and fans.
