The technology sector within Scotland’s capital city has received a huge boost with the news that one of the top IT companies in the world has chosen Edinburgh to be the location of its brand new digital pod.

Wipro has launched this facility and the hope is that it will enable the company to provide its varied technology services from a locale within close reach of its clients in Europe and the UK. The pod was officially opened by Greg Hands, the Trade and Investment Minister of State for the UK.

Edinburgh City Council representatives also attended the grand opening, along with tech analysts and some of Wipro’s existing customers. This is the latest in a series of design and digital workspaces that it has opened around the world – including in Munich, New York and London.

It has been specifically created to enable adaptive and collaborative working by employees of Wipro, in partnership with clients. Speaking to the Edinburgh Reporter, Hands said:

“This investment from Wipro into the new Edinburgh Pod stands as a testament to the world-leading innovation and digital expertise that the UK has on offer, and will result in the creation of jobs.”

The new pod will enable local businesses to call on the help of printers in the city offering modern services like digital printing.
