FOCUS Wales celebrates success

Crowds made their way to Print company in Wrexham printing services Wrexham for the largest turn out of the FOCUS Wales art festival to date.

Somewhere within the region of 8,000 people turned up to a festival full of drama, comedy, and music events. It was described as “fantastic” by Andy Jones, who co-founded the festival, who added that attendance figures were significantly up on its 2016 counterpart.

Over 200 musical acts performed at various venues across Wrexham as part of the show, including the likes of Exit International, Adwaith, Betsy, Georgia Ruth, the Astroid Boys and Lucy Spraggan. These acts performed along with a number of overseas performers representing Norway, Catalonia, South Korea, France, Poland, Canada, and more.

Attendees of the event were entertained by comedians Jonathan Williams and Shappi Korsandi and poets including the Awkward Poet and Stephanie Finegab. Jones said:

“It’s been really heart-warming that people have come to Wrexham with no preconceptions and been really welcome, not only by the festival and its staff but by the general public have been really welcoming to these international visitors.”

The Welsh Government and the Arts Council of Wales supported the event.
