American rapper Vanilla Ice to star in his first ever UK panto

American rap star Vanilla Ice has been the latest celebrity to be named as a star of the next pantomime to be held in the Medway region. The Central Theatre at Chatham in Kent made the announcement recently that Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Matthew Van Winkle, will undertake the role of Captain Hook in their production of Peter Pan in December 2011. This comes on the back of Vanilla Ice’s appearance on the reality TV show Dancing on Ice and also after his hit single with X Factor stars Jedward.
The fact that the Medway region has secured such a well-known name for their pantomime is sure to increase ticket sales, as big names draw in crowds in theatre, especially with the right kind of advertising. By using local companies who offer poster printing in Strood, Kent and the surrounding areas, the organisers of the pantomime could produce eye-catching posters to advertise the fact that Vanilla Ice will be starring in their production. The General Manager of the Central Theatre expressed his excitement at having Vanilla Ice on board as Captain Hook. By ensuring that the star’s billing is visible on any promotional material, the theatre will really be able to capitalise on his involvement and really see a return on investment from their poster printing. Strood, Chatham and the Medway region has seen local residents respond well to poster advertising in the past and this is a great opportunity for the Central Theatre to make the most of their star.
