New printing company in Birmingham
April 2, 2010 by Lyndon
There is a good concentration of printing companies around South Birmingham, for example, brochure printers, poster printers and flyer printers, as well as litho printers and wide format printers. All kinds of printing companies in South Birmingham will be interested in news of new competition.
The new company, Lucid, was founded by Mr. Jason Langford-Brown who was previously a director at Inkfish and Stralfords. Mr. Langford-brown has several years’ experience in commercial and leadership roles across a range of print, packaging, and customer communication businesses. He has been described as passionate about customer service and the development of his people.
Lucid employs 12 staff and they have invested in a Xeikon 5000plus digital colour press in a bid to grow their data-driven digital print operation. The new press will bridge the gap between low volume work, which is handled by their Konica Minolta equipment, and their higher volume digital printing work, which they have printed at their partners GI Direct. The company is aiming at £1 million turnover in its first year. Mr. Langford-Brown said:
“Managing data effectively to create variable, personalised print has to be the way forward for all involved in the communications sector. In doing this, we needed to bring together the multiple channels that exist in today’s market, including print, media, web and the data that drives them all.”
This is clearly a printing company which is taking advantage of new advances in technology. It will be interesting to see if they were on target in the first year of trading.
