Newspaper Printer of the Year 2009
December 15, 2009 by Gareth
Despite being defeated in both 2007 and 2008, Surrey a Berkshire Media returned determined to give it their best shot in 2009. The printing company from Reading presented an impressive array of papers for the judge’s scrutiny. Judges were highly impressed with both the strong black and colour work.
The company prides itself on clear design, powerful pictures and exceptional print quality. Their efforts this year have finally paid off as the judges could find ‘’no fault’’ with the entries they submitted.
SB Media are sticklers for high standards, which begins in their pre-press department. They run a setting service and they employ a PDF proofing service using email. This ensures that high quality proofs are delivered very quickly. The company operate:
…an Agfa Polaris 100 Platesetter to produce their plates. The print room operates a four-tower Goss Colorliner 70 Web press, with commercial headset technology. Registration is controlled using QTI register control systems, with accuracy pinpointed to 0.1mm.
This combination of machinery, fast pre-press and determination has finally paid -off for the Reading based printing firm. Representatives of the company stepped forwards proudly, to receive the accolade on behalf of their colleagues.
The prestigious award will be an excellent boost to moral for the whole company. SB Media will no doubt be thinking ahead to next year. Having taken three years to finally take the award they will certainly want to retain it for a further year. You can be sure they will be working hard in 2010 to achieve this.
