Flyers launch local business

A businessman is looking to extend his new business into Preston and create more employment in the area by keeping things local. Gavin Lunniss is running a fledgling food business to supply local people with local food produce after becoming frustrated by the produce he bought at the supermarket. Lunniss noted that products such as his meat and fruit was being sourced and supplied from abroad and even products such as milk he found were from other areas in the United Kingdom. Thinking that there was a market for locally sourced products Lunniss, who used to work as an engineer at BAE but, having experience in logistics, developed the idea to make local produce accessible to people actually in the area. He created his company called Local Foods 2 U Limited to bring products such as meat from nearby Clitheroe and Barrowford and eggs from the Trough of Bowland Forest and offer them for delivery to local customers.
To start and promote his new business Lunniss printed over 20,000 flyers – no doubt sourced from companies who offer flyer printing in Preston or the local area and distributed them to households in the area. After only 4 weeks in the business, he has over 200 customers and employs a couple of members of staff, hoping to employ even more as the range of products he can supply grows. Mr Lunniss is hoping to add fish and pastries to his existing product range which at the moment includes a variety of dairy products from farms around the region.
