Flyers and posters promote Preston gay night

Print companies in Preston are being called on to help expand the city’s thriving nightlife by printing flyers and posters to promote a new gay night in the city. Two of Preston’s residents, Lucy Earnshaw and her partner Gemma Emery, are launching a new gay night at The Mill on Aqueduct Street in September in order to try to boost the gay scene in the city centre. On top of their day jobs the pair hopes to bring a new friendly night to Preston where everyone is welcome and are distributing flyers and putting up posters in order to promote the event. Both feel that there is not much of a gay scene in Preston at the moment and want to cultivate the kind of nightlife and community that you can find in cities such as Manchester or in nearby Blackpool.
The club night will be called Zen and will play funky house music once a month on Thursdays. The pair has lined up a set by DJ Thaddeus who plays in Manchester’s Gay Village at Essential to kick off their launch night on the 16th September.
Lucy is working with Andrew Neale to launch the new night in Preston. Neale established The Hangout in a function room of the Bear’s Paw pub in the city which ran for a few nights over the Christmas period. Due to demand, his night now runs every Friday and Saturday and it is hoped that they can emulate this success with new night, Zen.
