Motown tribute act set to visit Potters Bar

Potters Bar residents are in for a musical treat as a Motown tribute show is set to take the town by storm as its organisers plan a concert in the town this September.
The Magic of Motown is one of the UK’s best loved tribute shows, having being held in over 150 concert halls and theatres in 2010, including one stellar sell-out gig at London’s O2 arena. The show has become a successful business, with its own website selling tour merchandise that includes CDs, T-shirts and tour brochures. Concerts like this and the merchandise that they generate show that there is still a real appetite for tour souvenirs, including programmes produced by brochure printers.
Potters Bar plays host to The Magic of Motown on 17th September at Wyllotts Theatre in Darkes Lane. Attendees will be treated to an array of their favourite Motown sounds from tribute acts covering artists like Diana Ross and the Four Tops.
The show’s producer, Michael Taylor, spoke to the Welwyn Hatfield Times, saying:
“It’s the best live Motown tribute concert show on tour. It’s not that it’s superbly-choreographed, it’s not the 36 million-selling hits, it’s not the dozens of dazzling costume changes featured that make it the UK’s busiest production on tour, it’s the fact that it faithfully reproduces that elusive Detroit sound.”
The show features 50 years of hits and focuses on the golden era of Motown, from 1961 to 1971. Tickets are available from the theatre, priced at £19 each.
