Weymouth Maritime Festival showcases packed programme of events

The annual Weymouth Spirit of the Sea Festival showcased a packed programme of events that encouraged people to get celebrate the sea-faring heritage of the region.
This year’s festival incorporated The Dorset Seafood Festival – a real mecca for foodies, Beach Live, a Modelling festival for Maritime model enthusiasts and the Henri Lloyd sailing regatta. All of these events were supported by smaller, peripheral events.
The Spirit of the Sea Festival produced a number of printed programmes in conjunction with local newspaper The Dorset Echo. These programmes were created with simple techniques used in brochure and catalogue printing. Poole, Weymouth, Portland and the surrounding areas all receive the Dorset Echo and so residents would have been aware of the festival in the build-up to the event itself. The programme helped to capitalise on that build up and give people in-depth information about events they might have read about in local newspapers or on websites.
The programmes were specially designed and printed in an A5 format, making them easy to pop into a bag or a pocket. They were printed using full colour printing and Poole, Weymouth and Portland residents could obtain copies from Weymouth Pavilion in the Tourist Information Centre.
The programmes contained daily listings, timings and booking information for events and even featured a prize draw and photography competition to encourage people to engage with the programme.
The programme helped to inform visitors about the events and activities on offer and helped the festival to run smoothly, with positive feedback from attendees and organisers alike.
