Poster helps bus driver to raise money for charity

A bus driver recently applied for – and was successful in securing – funding worth £2,000 after seeing a poster advertising sponsorship for charities at his place of work.
David Jones is a bus driver for First Busses who recently saw a poster advertising FirstGroup’s corporate social responsibility initiative at his local depot. The poster explained how the FirstGroup Charity and Sponsorship Committee had a fund that could be applied for and distributed to local charities if deemed worthy.
Mr. Jones is a supporter of LOOK West, a charity which supports children with impaired vision or blindness. This charity provides holidays and respite in Weymouth, near Poole in Dorset. LOOK West has a caravan based in Weymouth Bay and had recently appealed for help with site fees to allow them to continue their work. Mr. Jones commented on the sponsorship support he had received, saying:
“I decided to apply to the FirstGroup Charity and Sponsorship committee for these funds when I saw a poster up at work. I was thrilled to bits when I realised we’d received the full £2,000 we’d asked for; it will make such a tremendous difference to many families from the West of England who have blind or visually impaired children.”
The funding will help to support the work of LOOK West, thanks to FirstGroup’s use of poster printing. Poole, Weymouth and the surrounding areas offer a number of amenities that will be used by the children at LOOK West thanks to Mr Jones and FirstGroup.
