Digital brochure printers and litho printers around Poole will always be interested in other print companies’ success in securing contracts. Poole based printing company Southern Print has just secured an extension to a £2 million a year contract.
The contract, with specialist children’s publisher Egmont UK, was won after going out to competitive tender and was awarded on a one year rolling basis. Southern Print will produce 16 weekly and fortnightly titles, as well as a number of ad hoc products. Sarah Colley Egmont UK production manager, said:
“Southernprint’s consistent print quality, excellent time-keeping and supportive customer services team all played a part in our decision to renew our magazine printing contract.”
The print firm has a web offset operation in Poole where the titles will be printed. They use a Prinergy workflow system where files are uploaded for approval by Egmont’s production and editorial teams. Southern Print’s sales director, Mr. Lee Godwin said:
“The Southernprint team has developed a really strong relationship with Egmont, producing consistently high-quality products week-after-week. The renewal of the contract is testament to this.”
It is refreshing to hear some good news for a Poole printing company, especially during the present harsh economic climate. Competitive tendering, efficiency and consistency have clearly had a big part to play in the success of this particular company. Pulling in hefty contracts helps to secure the future of the printing industry in the region. Perhaps there are good lessons to be learnt from this approach.
