Print company in Loughborough printing services Loughborough University has spoken out about the uncertainty faced by the entire higher education world in light of recent cuts in government funding.

A white paper is being currently put through parliament detailing what has been called a ‘major shakeup’ of the higher education system, but universities and colleges around the country are still very much in the dark about what these changes will be.

Loughborough University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Shirley Pearce told the BBC that the higher education sector in Britain faced ‘unparalleled uncertainty’ about the cuts and that course fees for the next academic year had to be decided on without clear information about further spending cuts or about which courses may receive more funding from the government.

Tuition fees had to be set for the 2012 academic year as prospectuses needed to be printed to entice students to Loughborough University – now more so than ever considering students may choose universities based on cost rather than on academic credentials.
