Olympic Torch Relay leaflets issued throughout Leicestershire
April 20, 2012 by Mark
Leaflets have been distributed throughout the county of Leicestershire to promote the fact that the Olympic torch relay will be passing through the town and to prepare local residents for a ‘dress rehearsal’ of what will happen when it arrives.
The Olympic torch relay is set to travel around Great Britain in the run up to the London 2012 Olympic Games and Leicestershire is one of the areas being lucky enough to have the relay pass through it. In preparation for this parade, Leicestershire local authorities have arranged a trial-run of what will happen when the real torch arrives. This test run is set to happen on 20th April.
The Olympic torch relay dress rehearsal is set to affect the infrastructure of the county and so local authorities have produced and distributed a leaflet explaining what will happen in the towns that are due to play host to the Olympic torch. The leaflets, which have been created using full colour printing, show how Loughborough, Leicester and Peterborough amongst other areas will be affected by the relay.
The flyers cover information about road closures and diversions and they encourage people not to go out en masse into the streets for the rehearsal to allow the people behind the event to practice without too much public involvement.
A member of Leicestershire County Council spoke about the trial run for the Olympic torch relay, saying:
“Managing the dress rehearsal is important and we’re working with the police, city and district councils and others to coordinate plans and ensure safety.”
