Loughborough community groups get support to fund printing
July 24, 2012 by Gareth
A number of community groups from across Loughborough are set to receive funding to help with
printing and other running costs.
The Community Donations fund at Loughborough University recently announced that it would be awarding several local community groups with a share of its cash, helping these organisations to achieve goals that they may otherwise not be able to without this financial support.
Mount Sorrel Action Group, a local community organisation in Charnwood, has been awarded funding to help the group pay for essential services such as postage, room hire and stationery printing.
Both Loughborough and the Charnwood area are home to a number of community groups that have been fortunate enough to receive financial support thanks to funding from Loughborough University. The chair of the panel that allocates donations is Jon Walker.
Walker, who is also the university’s director of external affairs, commented on the community funding programme. He said:
“We have been able to help over 100 community groups since we launched the Donations Fund in 2009. The range of projects we have supported is staggering and indicates the huge amount of effort that takes place in community groups, often without acknowledgement. The University is delighted to help these groups in the work they do.”
A further £5,000 is due to be allocated to local community groups from the fund over the summer, in addition to the support that has already been given to local organisations this year so far. The cheques were given out to the groups in a ceremony that was held at Loughborough town hall.
