Litter pick-up shows environmental awareness thanks to printing services in Loughborough
January 26, 2011 by Michael
Pupils from a local Leicester school were recently involved in an event to help make the region cleaner and tidier. The huge litter pick up was championed by pupils from Shelthorpe Community School and involved students, teachers and members of the community. This kind of positive environmental initiative is something that is becoming ever-more commonplace throughout the UK and Leicestershire is a shining example when it comes to recycling and composting. Leicestershire residents have the best rates for this in the country.
This is thanks in part to the local councils and local government that is responsible for Leicestershire as they are well-known for their awareness drives when it comes to environmental issues. Printing services are often used by Loughborough authorities to raise awareness of the need to recycle and to keep the town tidy by communicating messages through mediums like brochure printing.
Loughborough’s recent litter pick up sets to be the first of many similar events due to both the success of it and the enthusiasm for it shown by local residents. Aside from the obvious benefits like improving the quality of life in the area and cutting down on harmful waste, this could also help the area to look much better and could in time help with the Loughborough in Bloom campaign.
If Shelthorpe Community School or other schools in the area were thinking of running their own litter pick up, local printing companies in Loughborough could be used to help raise awareness of their activities and to appeal for volunteers to join in.
