Liverpool festival celebrates all things design
October 2, 2011 by Michael
Liverpool Design Festival is set to run from 6th to 9th October 2011, celebrating local talent and the design industry in Liverpool.
This innovative festival celebrates all aspects of the design industry, from those working in ceramics and textiles to those working in advertising and poster printing. Liverpool is home to a thriving arts scene and the design industry has stemmed from this, sparking some of the best design talent in the UK.
The festival runs at venues throughout the city and features a range of events, from design shows and exhibitions to design agency open days. The main agency open day is on Friday 7th October and this sees many of Liverpool’s creative agencies opening their doors to everyone from graduates to the curious public to see what goes on behind that doors of a design agency.
The openness and participatory nature of Liverpool Design Festival is a positive move for Liverpool’s design community as it sees creative and technical minds coming together to share work and ideas. Refreshingly, cutting edge new technology such as the latest innovations in video game design will sit alongside paper-based techniques like digital printing.
Liverpool was named European City of Culture in 2008 and this title has certainly left a positive legacy with the city still buzzing with arts, culture and design events. Liverpool Design Festival tickets and information can be obtained by visiting the official website: http://www.liverpooldesignfestival.com. The festival is keen to hear from anyone who would like to take part in it next year, which is being worked on now.
